Extra Life Game Day: November 2nd!!

Do you enjoy having fun?? Look no further than Extra Life Game Day coming up on November 2nd!!

What is Game Day? “Game Day is Extra Life’s main event. It’s the biggest fundraising day of the year. This is the day when all Extra Lifers are called upon to fundraise – to help kids in your community. When your fundraising dollars are combined with the rest of the Extra Life Community, we can help 12 million kids every year receive the treatment they need.” from extra-life.org.

How do you get involved?

Streamers: you can host Extra Life charity streams on Game Day to ask your subscribers, viewers, and community to make donations to your fundraising page! Tabletop, roleplay, or board game communities: you can organize a special event and invite your gaming club to donate!! Living rooms gamers: you can schedule a meet up with your crew and collaborate with them to determine how much each person should raise or donate. Esports: organize a tournament where the entry fee is a donation!

Whether you’re preparing or debating to register (hint! hint! hint!) I encourage you to think about what could be happening at our hospital at the same moment:

• There could be a 3-year-old little girl in our Children’s ER getting ready to receive a life-changing diagnosis. 
• A teenager that didn’t wear a helmet on his bicycle, took a sharp turn and is now in our PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) about to undergo another surgery. 
• A premie baby that was simply too eager to enter the world and arrived at only 30 weeks, and now needs around-the-clock care to stay in our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.) 
• A Child Life Specialist using educational medical play with kid-friendly materials to explain to a 8-year-old the surgery they are about to undergo so that they aren’t so scared. 

We can’t change why these hypothetical patients need care at our hospital, but because of programs like Extra Life, we can offer the very best physical and emotional care to the thousands of local kids like them who need us every year.
